SEARCHING FOR PEACE; FINDING UNREST

How did I get here? The centre of blissful joy. I have finally found the long sought centre of blissful joy. What I admired nature from where I perched. Below the branches of the strong oak tree just seeping my coke. The non-natural sights of my house and room pushed me here to appreciate what nature could offer. Trying to shove away the teething troubles of a new semester behind myself. But at the distance of a neck's-stretch I see one that's not so natural though beautiful from afar.  I saw artificial illustrious illuminations through the black greens. In the midst of it I sat and could not help but seeing it far off. Beautiful scenery with sin behind the scenes. The colours that make up a kente cloth cannot blend to form this beauty.  From where I was relaxed that evening I had no thoughts anymore o anything I hated. Amidst all these I sit. Right at the centre. Only I am not the master of the developments nor a partaker its many lures and fantasies. Sentiment...

INSANE FADING FAKE

Image
You need to get this right. You cannot be always right. You need not take this light. You don't have to whine You may choose to wine and dine Only listen, listen when I guide You may brag of light coloured skin But can you see the zebra skin coming? Only if you know Know that you'll grow Can you see it? Can you see that day when your fake beauty glows no more? Can you imagine that day when your fair skin becomes reddish black with spots? Only if you know You'll chose to learn With the least chance I will take my stance Just to let you know You can be wrong When you were black, bold and uniquely different. When you were black as a lightless night And your smile as the brightest light I couldn't help but respect you, love you, dream you and think you. I am not racist I am an activist I am not singing for blacks I am only preaching to blacks I preach blackness Preaching against bleaching You glow, yet you're fake. Fading the blac...

THE IMPRISONED MESSAGE

This poem is not a poem This poem may be meaningless, Weightless yet worth reading This poem lacks vocabulary It holds nothing unique of poetic essence. But carries simple words of a message A message that seeks a place to land Traveling within the walls of a heart. Imprisoned, Ignored, Tortured. Violently cracking the bricks of its cage A message fighting for its own freedom Seeking a break through. A message desirous of overcoming solitary confinement The message wants to meet others. But others seem to have no message for this message. This message refuses to quit fighting to escape the bondage of a home in one heart. It hopes to locate its friend in another heart. Futile journeys this message have walked. This night the message is discomforting. It fights with vigour for escape. I was up late on my bed The same bed that puts me to sleep The bed that invites me to rest The bed that convinces me to forget unfinished task and rest The bed with the magic to infe...

ROBBED BY THE BAD SAMARITAN

The words for telling certain stories are difficult to get. The trauma and lasting shame it brings to your personality, the thoughts of the thing lost that cannot be regained. These were the barriers keeping this story you could have learnt from long ago. Without permission, his mission to accomplish. He was strong yet wrong. T'was a peaceful night till dawn. I lay down in my bed with sound sleep after the toil of the previous day. At least I now have a place to lay my head for no cost. He broke my door with his one hand holding the gun with the other. I could not stand what he was in for. So I fought back with a slap on his face. Though hard per my strength, I knew it made no real impact on him. At least he paused and I thought he would retreat. Instead, he re-schemed what he intended. He consoles me? The nicest robber I guess. After the consolation which I overemphasized being the woman I was. With the pack of surprises he had for me, this robber pointed the ...
