WHAT IS YOUR FRIENDSHIP LIKE?

Some Thoughts on Friendships# The world of friends has never been devoid of conflicts. They just choose to place more value on their friendship than the conflicts. When they share with each other, it is not because they have so much, But because they learned that group joy exceeds personal happiness. Friends know how to live alone, but understand that people need people. Friends don't agree on everything but they move together anyways. They decide to see the needs of each other as theirs By time, they'd feel and move to ensure the best of the friendship together. Friends do not ignore the value of the investments their friends make for the sake of the friendship. To ignore what your friend does for the friendship and refuse to make a personal commitment to invest in it is an act that kills the friendship. Selorm Charles Deku

ACADEMIA=UNENDING KNOWLEDGE HUNT

Image
The unnatural hunger for knowledge we picked, Knowledge hunt in which we lose self, Embracing the being offered by books, Such a pursuit it is. We harvest what they plant and rarely plant ours, It’s a world teaching that knowledge is out there, Knowledge that needs a refining, The search keeps growing. The newest and seeming sound knowledge, Once researched may be refuted, We’re rare successes in our job, Right today, disproved before the morrow. When counter-evidence makes our knowledge void, Our fat egos get hurt and deflated, But by our oath, we accept defeat, But then we begin other searches. Hopefully, we’d die before they find out, That we were false academic prophets, Like how we fought the ghosts of those gone, May they continue our ghosts to fight unending.

LOVE IS A 2-WAY TRAFFIC

Image
  The convergence of erstwhile divergent unrelated emotions, minds, purposes and desires for a cause greater than what the individual mind, emotion, desire and purpose dream is what some see as love. To some, it begins at the point at where a fragile glass-like heart perceives a personality worth treasuring. That supposes the losing of the mind before the birth of it which I do not accept. The patriotic and socially inclined see it as self-denial for one’s polity and forfeiture of some of one person’s joy to bring others also upward to an appreciable level of comfort and well-being. Love means much and the explanations of it are as many as the unbroken hearts the world is still managing to deal with. IT HAS BEEN DEFINED AND REDEFINED . Another group of people against whom I am quite biased in my judgment toward see love in a simplistic sense of a momentary sexual affair. “Show me your love” means nothing less or more to these group of people than t...

BROOM-STICK TAPE MEASURE

Image
It was a practice in remote Ghana in the not too distant past when older family members travel to the city to buy footwear for the younger family members, they would measure the feet of the prospective shoe owner with broom sticks. The way it works is that because most of the people could not tell the sizes of footwear that the individual uses, they would break a locally made broomstick (manufactured from palm fronds or coconut stalks) and align it by the feet and break just enough to match the length of the broom stick with that of the shoe owners. Even in cases when the older ones want to surprise the younger ones which normally occurs during festivities, this special measurement is done when the kids are asleep.

SELIKEM'S FIRST SHOE

Image
This story is in memory of the late Mr Bernard K. Deku . He was a man with little formal education and a lot of knowledge, very strong and very soft when dealing with his brethren. Like all men though, he wasn't flawless. Selikem was  seven years before he got into primary one. Even though by national requirements he was late in school, regionally his time was very early. Unlike most of the people in the village where he lived, he had to walk daily to the next village which was about 4 kilometers in order to attend school unless he got the blessing of a passing car. He had a brown short, a "blue-bird" slipper a little bigger than him and a red T-shirt with black stripes. Seli as he was known was a happy boy who never thought he needed anything until his school decided that all pupils must wear a certain uniformed shirt and full cover shoes.  Mr Doawu, his father who seemed to know much about the need to have formal education quickly sewed beautiful school unifo...

DEAR LADY,

Dear Lady, Be grateful to God for giving you good physique. But, when all what you appreciate about what He has given you is the color of your skin or the colorlessness of it, the contours and the flat tummy, the long hair and shiny nails and graced calf, then I am tempted to say you must learn to be a bit more grateful. When you take, watch and share more pictures than you read, imbibe and share  God's word with your followers on social media, there is a real problem that needs attention. There is a sure prediction that your follower-ship would wane when what you take pride in begins to be affected by the inevitable decay from the woes of old age. The number of likes, follows, comments and reactions you get would begin to drop with your increase in age which normally means a fall in the price of your physique on the social media market. Why give all focus to only one thing from all that God has blessed you with? You have intellect that needs deve...

PIERCED HEART

When an heart inflated by true love gets deflated by denials When opportunities seem absent for dreams And nursed love finds no bed to root down Failure inscribes its signet on wandering hopes Highflying balloons of love brought low by a puncture of "no" It scares the mind and drills scars in the heart. But new hopes keeps you going Some nos are better than yes after all  http://hellopoetry.com/poem/1444362/pierced-heart/
